Creates a HubSpot submissionHow Kanoa MES Licensing Works
Kanoa MES is modular and licensed per Ignition Gateway. Kanoa Ops is the required foundation, and you can add Kanoa Quality, Kanoa Trace, Kanoa Maintenance, and Kanoa Inventory as your implementation expands. This pricing model makes it easy to start with the MES capabilities you need today, while leaving a clear path to scale across additional workflows, equipment, and production lines.
Software Licensing (One-Time)
| Product | Required | License Price | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kanoa Ops | Required | $20,000 | The foundational module providing core MES capabilities and platform features. Includes OEE, downtime tracking, scheduling, security, and dashboarding. |
| Kanoa Quality | Add-On | $10,000 | Quality management workflows, e-forms, SPC, and compliance management. |
| Kanoa Trace | Add-On | $10,000 | Traceability, genealogy, routing, and lot/serial level tracking and reporting. |
| Kanoa Maintenance | Add-On | $10,000 | Work orders, preventive maintenance, digital procedures, technician execution, and maintenance analytics. |
| Kanoa Inventory | Add-On | $5,000 | Parts, stock levels, inventory locations, suppliers, transactions, and stocking policies. |
All module pricing shown above is per Ignition Gateway. Multi-gateway and multi-site deployments can be quoted as enterprise bundles.
Annual Support (Required)
Annual Support is required for initial licensing and applies to all licensed modules. This is priced at 20% of total license fees annually and includes ongoing upgrades, compatibility updates, and access to support channels.
Supporting Servers (Optional)
Kanoa supporting-server licenses let you extend your production configuration into development, testing, staging, and redundant server environments. Each supporting-server license is priced at 50% of the production license subtotal and includes the same Kanoa solutions licensed on the production server.
- Dev Server License: Create and validate configuration changes, integrations, and application development outside the production environment.
- Test Server License: Test upgrades and application changes in a staging environment before production deployment.
- Redundant Server License: License a redundant production server to support a resilient Ignition Gateway architecture.
A production license is required to purchase supporting-server licenses. Annual Support applies to all production and supporting-server license fees.
Unlimited Licensing
Like Ignition, Kanoa MES is not priced by users, tags, lines, sessions, sites, or transactions. You can scale your usage as far as your Ignition Gateway infrastructure can support. Practical limits depend on application design, data volumes, and system architecture.
-
Unlimited users and sessions
-
Unlimited tags and data collection
-
Multi-line, multi-site, and high-volume deployments supported with proper architecture
Required Software
Kanoa MES requires Inductive Automation's Ignition and Microsoft SQL Server
Ignition
Kanoa MES is built on the Inductive Automation Ignition platform. Ignition provides the industrial application platform that makes Kanoa composable, scalable, and integrator-friendly. An Ignition Gateway is required to run Kanoa MES, and Ignition is licensed separately from Kanoa. Most Kanoa MES deployments use Ignition Perspective for modern web-based operator experiences.
-
Kanoa is licensed per Ignition Gateway (aligned with Ignition’s server-based model)
-
Ignition is purchased and licensed separately through Inductive Automation or your Ignition provider
-
Perspective is required for operator-facing web apps and dashboards
Microsoft SQL Server
Kanoa MES uses Microsoft SQL Server as its primary database for configuration, production context, and operational data. Standardizing on SQL Server helps ensure production-grade performance, consistency, and long-term maintainability. SQL Server is required for Kanoa MES deployments and is licensed separately. During implementation, Kanoa deploys a dedicated database on your SQL Server instance and configures it to support a stable, high-performance MES environment.
-
SQL Server is required and licensed separately (not included with Kanoa MES)
-
Kanoa creates and manages a dedicated Kanoa MES database on your SQL Server instance
-
Standardizing on SQL Server enables a reliable and scalable backbone for critical production systems
